- Johanna J. Bodde, co-host of the Netherlands radio show Alt.Country Cooking, asked Trussell about Texas Gothic. Interview reveals that the song "Billy Got Bad" was inspired by his "legendary night in jail in Austin." And that "Spanish Girls" was included because his wife insisted on it: "She says it's about freedom. I like it because it's existential and bleak." And that "Across the Great Divide in G" was inspried by a drunken train ride from Los Angeles to San Antonio: "The song is fatalistic, romantic, a picture of fog-bank loneliness."
